40MW Swedish Data Centre

Project Value: 30million SEK

| Project Duration: March 2021 -December 2022

The Overview:

Gerco-FAS were contracted for the installation of Passive Fire Protection systems as per the Architect’s designs to ensure compliance in line with Swedish regulations. The project is located close to the Arctic circle in the North of Sweden, and is the third building phase on the LLA campus. It was a challenging project due to the extremities of the environment, going from snow blizzards, -30c temperatures and 24-hour darkness in the winter months, to 30c and 24-hour sunlight in the summer.

Project Highlights:

  • Engagement with the Architect and Supplier to ensure the fire stopping details were compliant as per testing and Swedish regulations
  • Installation of specialized Rockwool Softseal System to allow movement of the services when snow loading occurs in the winter, ensuring the integrity of the fire stop is not compromised.
  • Overcame procurement challenges arisen from Brexit and the remote location of the project.
  • Consulted with project specific fire testing at RI.SE to overcome design issues.
  • Installation of a specialized movement joint that allowed for integrity and insulation performance as per the design requirements.
  • Promoting strict QA/QC procedures to ensure quality aligns with the client’s expectations.
  • The snow finally melting.
